International Department

Organisational issues The International Department is policy-making in the fields of international trade union policy and foreign policy issues, democracy and fundamental human rights and freedoms, international trade union cooperation, overall European policy, trade and investment issues, as well as corporate social responsibility.

In addition, the department follows the developments in the field of climate and environmental issues and is policy-defining in these matters. The department is responsible for cooperation with international trade union organisations, inter-governmental bodies and other organisations that deal with international trade union issues. The department coordinates LO’s EU activities within the LO, with the LO affiliates and in relation to other Swedish trade union confederations. It is also responsible for trade union political cooperation on the global and European levels.
